Tonight at 7 PM opens NAP+, a new, refreshing and enriching addition to the cultural landscape. Initiators Sara Lang (Langart) and David van Doesburg (Stigter Van Doesburg) give a nod to the ‘big business’ model of a classic art fair with this first edition of NAP+.In a former garage near Amsterdam Sloterdijk station, Galerie Fontana will show new work by renowned artist Claudy Jongstra and young talented painter Thijs Segers under the common title ‘Dialogues with Nature II’. Both create artworks inspired by a profound relationship with nature and a deep commitment to the state of our natural world. Jongstra embraces the full potential of what the earth offers; using sheep's wool and her own colour palette distilled from ancient dyes, she creates her vibrant abstracted landscapes together with nature. Behind her artworks are messages about the unrelenting commitment to regenerative agriculture and safeguarding cultural heritage, increasing biodiversity and fostering social and ecological awareness.NAP+12-15 september 2024Donauweg 11 AmsterdamInfo and opening hours:https://www.napplus.nlLandscape III, 2024; Colourful Mix I, 2024; Colourful Mix II, 2024

Just like a winemaker, a composer or a painter, artist Claudy Jongstra composes her characteristic colorful works of art with love and attention. She selects her materials with care, such as the high-quality wool from Drenthe heath sheep and the dyes from cultivated historical dye plants from her botanical garden. With this she created her latest series of organically shaped works entitled 'Atmosphaera' which will play the leading role in the solo exhibition from September 7 to October 26 at Galerie Fontana. The felted tapestries are imbued with a warm glow, they take on layered blue tones that come from the magical little plant of woad, and the radiantly sunny yellow of freshly harvested Yellow Chamomile, both from the biodynamic Odin farm De Beersche Hoeve. Hues that contribute remarkably to the aesthetics and intensity of the color tones in the works. With the title Atmosphaera, the artist refers to the search for spheres around us that offer protection and vitality in a fragile world with an uncertain future. One of the spheres is the close-knit community with which Jongstra surrounds herself: together with biodynamic farmers, artisans, researchers, shepherds, students, etc., artworks are created that carry a tangible resilience and security. The Priona Tuinkamer in Drenthe opened in 2016 in a restored conservatory in the Priona Gardens. For this space, Claudy Jongstra created an exuberant and sophisticated floral artwork, appropriately named Priona Blossom. The title reflects the ‘wild but tight’ philosophy of the unusual, revolutionary and wild garden design by artists Henk Gerritsen and Anton Schlepers in the 1970s. The ecological garden with 5,000 different species of (rare) plants, gained international acclaim. With the edible plants, fruits and flowers from the Priona Gardens, Michelin-starred chef Alwin Leemhuis composes a special menu in the restaurant every week. In keeping with the food theme, Jongstra dyed the wool for the artwork in the rich colours of edible plants such as onion, chamomile, mint and calendula and embellished it with embroidered hand-spun silk yarns.Want to dine and admire the artwork and gardens? https://lnkd.in/dd9xy2xKDe Tuinkamer in PrionaGitta LuitenAlwin Leemhuis

At Studio Claudy Jongstra in Friesland, preparations are progressing for the monumental 7 X 3.5-metre artwork for a special client. Meanwhile, a colourful landscape full of life and movement begins to unfold. Claudy Jongstra carefully layers the carded and dyed sheep's wool with the colours of woad, madder, chamomile, coreopsis, and other natural dye plants, like a giant jigsaw puzzle, until an organic landscape composition is created. After this magical making process, we will soon present the final result.Anneleen Reitsma#drentheheathsheepwool#drentheheath#naturaldyes#dyeplants#ecological#biodynamic#naturallandscape #art#artist #internationalcommission#composition#studioteam #monumentalartpiece

Like a composer who writes a piece of music, Claudy Jongstra composes with wool, which she uses to create new colourful compositions. With her hands, she creates no fewer than ten new organically shaped artworks from which the colours splash. The wool-felted works take on the layered blue hues derived from woad. And the recent fresh harvest of Yellow Chamomile from biodynamic Odin farm De Beersche Hoeve, yields a vibrant, almost fluorescent yellow with a saturated solar power. These, older and yet to be created pieces by the artist are part of 'Atmosphaera', her comprehensive solo exhibition at Galerie Fontana from 7 September- 26 October 2024. Public opening September 7: 16-19 PM.Galerie Fontana De Beersche Hoeve Odin foodcoop #atmosphaera
